This is a very important step even before you conceive (although it might be too late) nevertheless, consuming vitamins is essential. The neural cord for your baby, which eventually becomes the brain and spinal cord, develops quickly — within the first month to be exact.
Get those goods down you from the start! Nutrients such as iron, calcium and folic acid are highly recommended. We want your baby to be well developed mentally, not just physically. If you’re unsure which is the best brand for you, your doctor will be able to guide you.
Gain A Better Understanding
Educating yourself is paramount to you as well as your baby’s well-being. This may not be your first child but attending classes and consuming good content, such as our blog, will help prepare you mentally and physically.
Alternatively, attending a childbirth class will prepare you in a different way, compared to reading content. Questions can be asked to the helpful and knowledgeable staff, which make it a lot more engaging. We recommend trying both methods in order for you to find out which one works best for you.
If you aren’t already exercising, you should be! Why? Because of the endless childbearing benefits. Regular exercise will improve your mood, sleep quality, blood circulation as well as help control weight fluctuations.
Low impact activities such as yoga, pilates, swimming and walking are perfect. They won’t put too much stress on your body and they’re fun! Shoot for 30 minutes of exercise 4-5 days a week. Don’t worry if you don’t reach your goal—any progress is good progress!
Be sure you listen to your body, too. If you’re aching, take a couple of days off. If you feel like you can do more, go for it! In the end, your baby wants you to be fit as a whistle so start now and you’ll reap the rewards!
Eating For Two?
Eating for two can be a perfect excuse to indulge in your favourite food. Although it can be extremely enjoyable when you satisfy those cravings, the most important thing is to make sure you’re at a healthy weight.
The Institute of Medicine (IOM) issued new guidelines for weight gain during pregnancy:
– Underweight: Gain 28-40 pounds
– Normal weight: Gain 25-35 pounds
– Overweight: Gain 15-25 pounds
– Obese: Gain 11-20 pounds
Regular checks with your doctor to make sure you’re on track is advised.
Sleep is also very important – at least 8 hours a night. If you’re unable to achieve the amount of sleep required at night, then naps during the day are the best way to make up for lack of sleep.
From beauty products to health products, the list is endless. Although we would recommend such, we feel the single and most powerful product for you to acquire during your pregnancy is the Heartbeat Listener
Why? It allows you to connect with your baby in a way not possible before. An adored product by mothers alike, listening to your baby’s heartbeat and movement helps settle nerves whilst making your connection even more special!
